KTDA affiliated smallholder farmers set to reap double bonuses in October
By David Kipkorir
In a significant boost to small-scale farmers associated with the Kenya Tea Development Agency (KTDA), exciting news has emerged that they will receive not just one, but two bonuses in the first two weeks of October 2023.
This double bonus payout includes both the highly anticipated September 2023 green leaf payment.
The announcement by the board of KTDA brings a glimmer of hope to these hardworking farmers, further empowering them in their pursuit of sustainable tea production and economic prosperity.
Kenya’s agricultural sector is the backbone of its economy, and the tea industry plays a pivotal role in its growth and development. Small-scale tea farmers, often situated in rural areas, form the foundation of this industry, accounting for a substantial portion of the country’s tea production.
Recognizing their invaluable contribution, the KTDA has been working tirelessly to support and uplift these farmers.
Historically, KTDA has consistently disbursed bonuses to farmers at various intervals throughout the year. These bonuses serve as a vital financial injection, enabling farmers to invest in their tea estates, meet their families’ needs, and improve their overall quality of life.
The upcoming double bonus payout demonstrates KTDA’s commitment to bolstering the economic well-being of small-scale farmers, particularly in these challenging times, said the board in statement.
The September 2023 bonus holds great significance for tea farmers as it coincides with the peak of the tea harvesting season.
In a move that has delighted farmers across the country, the KTDA has made an unprecedented decision to grant an additional bonus to small-scale tea farmers.
This second bonus, which will be disbursed alongside the September 2023 bonus, serves as a testament to the KTDA’s commitment to the prosperity of its farmers.
