Maize farmers get high yielding maize seed variety

Kenya seed Group of Companies has launched a new maize variety H533 suitable for medium & lowland areas.

Speaking recently, the Chairperson Kenya Seed Group of Companies Wangui Ngirici said that the company is putting measures to ensure farmers get the right seeds.

On his part, the MD Sammy Chepsiror called out farmers to embrace this new variety to promote food security.

He said the new variety is higher yielding, has uniform ear placement, excellent husk cover, is a double cobber and guarantees farmers 36 bags per acre.

It will give a farmer between 36 bags per acre. “Our trials proved that the variety is one of the highest yielding hybrids and advantageous than other hybrids in the market. It is fast maturing and tolerant to diseases,” Chepsiror said during the launch.

Kenya Seed released the new variety recently during the concluded Nakuru National Agricultural Show.

The produces over 60 varieties ranging from maize, Wheat, Pasture, Sunflower, Sorghum, Millet, and a wide range of horticultural seed.
