President Uhuru Kenyatta has fired Agriculture Cabinet Secretary, Mwangi Kiunjuri, in a Cabinet reshuffle conducted Tuesday January, 14.

Under his watch, the Agriculture ministry has faced a lot of challenges including a recurring maize crisis, fluctuating tea prices and importation of cheap milk and eggs, which have flooded the market, dealing a blow to local farmers.

The ongoing desert locust attack that is ravaging parts of Northern Kenya has topped the list of his misfortunes.

In a quick rejoinder, Mr Kiunjuri while reacting to his sacking from the Cabinet said he was happy to have served Kenyans diligently and thanked everyone who supported his efforts.

“I have given my best to all my assignments; I, therefore, leave with my head held high. I have faced many challenges in my life, what I have never failed to do is try,” he said. The ex-agriculture CS added that he had endured a lot of humiliation at the docket. Mr Kiunjuri promised to react to his dramatic change of fortunes adding;
