Kenya has included new economic activities after reviewing the structure of its economy. Consequently, this situation has made the contribution of agriculture decrease as other sectors receive more. So why have the new economic activities hit agriculture?
The new economic activities exist as a way to calculate Gross Domestic Product.. The technical term for this is rebasing.
Rebasing involves implementing new compilation methods as well as the new and improved data. In addition, aside from increasing or decreasing new economic activities through a new base year as the reference point for GDP.
After rebasing, nominal GDP grew by Sh520billion to get to a current Sh10.26 trillion.
