Turkana irrigation site handover
CEC Phillip Aemun from the Turkana County Agriculture saw over the location handover for the proposed Kapelbok Spate irrigation project in Kaputir Ward. This happened on the 30th of August 2021.
The site scheme is set to benefit over 100 farmers. Initially, the site works will include clearance, stump removal, chisel ploughing and flood control structures.
Additionally, the county chief officer for Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Dr Jacob Lolelea and MCA Shadrack Lodonga accompanied Mr Aemun.
CEC Aemun recognized farmers’ request to bring back the stalled irrigation plans and assured them of the ongoing progress to get it back on track. In addition, he let them know that this was in the greater agenda of addressing food insecurity. Dr Lolelea shared that his department was finding different models to ensure all arable areas are covered in the County.
